Today is the beginning of Navararti
Navaratri is an occasion for worshiping Parashakti, the Almighty Goddess, who is the cause of the universe. Navaratri is a time for vows, austerities and worship. The ways of worshiping vary from place to place. In some places, a different aspect of Devi is worshiped on each day. In other places, She is worshiped as Kali or Durga during the first three days, as Lakshmi in the next three days, and as Saraswati in the last three days. In yet other places, the worship is performed only during the last three days.

In the same spirit, we will celebrate Navaratri at Ammas Ashram in Melbourne. Daily prayers will be held at Ammas Ashram Melbourne.

Amma the represent of God…

Amma gave her mother a final kiss as Damayanthi Amma’s last rites were performed today in Amritapuri. During the cremation, Amma and all assembled looked on with immeasurable love and reverence for her. The chanting of “Om Namah Shivaya” permeated the atmosphere and everyone stood in awe of a supremely blessed woman with great fortitude. Humankind has never known such a legacy. And such a legacy may never be known again.
