Amrita Yoga was born from the divine resolve and unconditional compassion of Amma. A traditional school of Hatha Yoga upholding Vedic principles, Amrita Yoga incorporates Amma’s teachings and integrates the four different paths of yoga, cultivating physical, mental and spiritual upliftment. About Brahmacharini Shobana (Shobha)
Brahmacharini Shobana, PHD Candidate in Yoga, is an award-winning yoga practitioner and teacher. She has dedicated her life to the pursuit of authentic yoga as a monastic in Amma’s ashram.
Under Amma’s direct guidance, as director of AMRITA YOGA® since 2004 she has taught more than 2,000 workshops, classes and retreats worldwide.
Specializing in bridging the gap between the ancient traditional Eastern practice and the practical needs of yoga in the West, Shobha travels regularly back and forth between India and the west. She is one of only 12 members (and the only woman) on the Indian government’s Committee for Yoga Education, which forms curriculum courses in Indian Universities.

Private Sessions with Brahmacharini Shobha
Each student has the opportunity to express their objective for the individual private session and will then receive specific instructions for asana practice (yoga sadhana) to experience that objective. The student may express their individual needs and obstacles to seek clarity for moving forward with their yoga practice. Students may also express their personal health history, seek remedies to boost their confidence and get personalized yoga advice.
These Heart-centered private sessions will help identify areas of healing, promote greater mind/body awareness and provide a gentle restorative practice. These private sessions can also support those recovering from any form of illness or injury.
All classes are open to everyone. No previous experience is necessary.
