Sydney Ashram

For many years now Amma has expressed a desire to see an Ashram in Sydney. An ashram in Sydney would be:

  • A quiet place for contemplation and meditation
  • A place where service to the community can happen
  • A place to celebrate special events
  • A place to work with like-minded friends
  • A place for group prayers
  • A place that Amma can visit during her Australian tours.
  • A place for Amma’s senior monastic disciples to hold programs.

To achieve this dream, we are meeting regularly to plan and coordinate the fundraising needed for the acquisition of a suitable property. Everybody is welcome.

It is a busy and exciting time and there are many ways to participate.

Festival 2017

Join us at the Bulwalwanga Ran Aboriginal Festival
14-17 January 2017
Milton Showground (NSW South Coast)

The Amma Sydney Ashram Project (ASAP) Committee, devotees and community are pleased to invite you to participate in a unique Aboriginal community festival on the South Coast. It is a great opportunity for us, as Amma has asked Her Australian children to become involved in helping to alleviate the suffering of Her Aboriginal children in Australia by working with them to support their spiritual and cultural upliftment.

Festival Detail
Bulwalwanga Ran is a four-day festival celebrating indigenous and non-indigenous approaches to personal and planetary wellbeing. The festival will take place from the 14-17th January 2017 at Milton Showground on the NSW South Coast on land which Noel Butler, a Budawang Elder and his family have been the custodians of for thousands of years.

For all the details of the activities, workshops, tickets, accommodation and location details of the festival please go to the website:

Volunteers Required

We will be selling wholesome healthy food to an anticipated crowd of up to 300 people on the weekend of 14th and 15th of January 2017 of the festival. We would love your help with cooking and serving of the three meals daily, snacks, chai and cakes for these two days. All funds raised will go towards the new Sydney ashram.

To register to help with the cooking, serving, food preparation, supplies, sponsor food etc or transport, please contact the project coordinator Linda on: or mobile 0410745680.

The location is 3 to 3 ½ hours drive from Sydney so we encourage volunteers to carpool. Please let Linda know if you are willing to take volunteers in your vehicle.

Accommodation and food cost will have to be paid by the devotees. If you are volunteering for 4 hours or more per day, please speak with Linda before purchasing tickets for the festival. There are several accommodation choices available. We urge you to book accommodation as soon as possible as Milton is a popular tourist destination. If you wish to make arrangements, visit the festival website for accommodation options.

Please contact the project coordinator Linda on: or mobile 0410745680 if you are interested in booking into a holiday house, which accommodates 10 or more people.
