The new website and name, Embracing the World, directly evokes Amma's unique vocation. We chose this new name because we believe that it is this simplest of gestures - a mother's embrace - that has served as both catalyst and symbol for the international collective of charitable projects that makes up Embracing the World.

Amma's Golden Jubileee Birthday celebrations - inauguration of numerous new charity projects, conferences, and cultural performances by legendary artists from around the world - including a massive peace prayer involving representatives of all the 191 countries comprising the United Nations.

Amrita University - Amma's Educational Institutions
The Government of India has conferred Deemed-To-Be-University status to Amrita Institutions, consisting of the Amrita Institute of Technology (AIT), the Amrita Institute of Management (AIM) at Coimbatore, and the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) with its Medical College, Pharmacy College and Nursing School at Kochi. All together, these colleges constitute Amrita Vishwa Vidya Peetham (Amrita University).
