About Brahmachari Shantamrita Chaitanya
Brahmachari Shantamrita Chaitanya grew up in the USA, where he studied Japanese and Asian Civilizations. He began living at Amritapuri (Amma's Ashram), India in 1993. In 1997 at the age of 29 he was initiated by Amma as a Brahmachari (formally becoming a monk and priest) and since then has been engaged in social, educational and spiritual activities throughout India, Japan, USA and Europe.
In India he has worked on projects such as the Amrita-Kuteeram Housing Construction scheme (supplying housing to people of low income) and the Gujarat Earthquake relief project. In Europe and the USA he has been involved in activities for the Youth as well as accompanying Amma on Her World Tours.
Since 2002 Brahmachari Shantamrita has lived in Japan running Amma's Ashram where he is also a member of the Board of Directors for Amma's Japanese NGO. He continues to travel around the world with Amma and on his own throughout South East Asia conducting pujas and homas and inspiring devotees with his heartfelt talks on topics such as "Spirituality in Daily Life", "The Meaning of Prayer", "The Significance of Meditation", and "Worship in the Form of Service" .
Brahmachari Shantamrita loves to interact with the youth, he is passionate about the environment as well as being involved in all levels of Amma's charitable outreach programs.
Brahmachari Shantamrita is coming to Australia from Nairobi Kenya where he has been overseeing the construction and development of an orphanage and school for 108 children, as well as the roll out of the "A Meal A Day program" which aims to feed needly children across the country. He has recently developed a corporate meditation program for the United Nations Development Program Headquarters, for Senior program directors on their way to Somalia.
