"Human beings are born to experience pure love, but they never get it. They are searching to experience it from birth until death. Amma's main purpose of interacting with people and embracing them is to awaken the pure love in them. In todays world, both men and women need motherhood, the nurturing motherly feeling, the feminine energy. By receiving this energy, it will make them independent and free. The only way we can feel free is by feeling the love within. When Amma embraces people, She is also transmitting a part of Her spiritual energy to them, so they can awaken to this pure love"
- Amma
Dear Friends,
It was a great joy to have Br. Shraddhamrita in Sydney to celebrate Amma's birthday. He also returned in November to teach an IAM course and conducted 5 bhagavad Gita classes. It was Br. Shraddhamrita's first visit to Australia, and with Amma's blessing not the last.
It is interesting to see how each individual tour brings with it a different flavor of Amma's teachings. The Bhagavad Gita classes were indicative of that. We studied the 12th chapter on the yoga of devotion. The Gita teachings were interspersed with inspiring stories on Amma's teachings.
Swamiji pointed out how Amma's words, as simple as they seem, can be found reflected in the ancient scriptures of India.
In December we will be celebrating our traditional Christmas satsang. This year it will be at Willoughby. Check calendar for details. Come along and enjoy the singing of traditional Christmas carols. Also if you have small children please bring a present for Mrs Santa Claus to present.
Hopefully we will soon have dates for Amma's 2012 tour. As soon as we have details they will be posted on the website, and you will also receive an email if you are on our mailing list. Please be in touch if you would like to do some selfless service (seva ) during the tour. There are many different areas where you can be of support. For instance: accommodating tour staff, Hall set up, flower stall, dining room and kitchen etc.
If you can help then please contact Dayal on 9590 7935 or mail at sydney@ammaaustralia.org.au
Satsang (Regular Group Spiritual Gatherings)
Those attending satsang recently will have noticed that changes have been made to the satsang format. These changes were suggested by Br Shantamrita during his most recent visit.
We now begin the satsang with the peace chant Om Lokah Samastah, chanted 108 times, followed by 10 minutes of meditation. Each week a different person gives a talk or reading relating to a spiritual question that they would ask Amma if she were here, then we have the singing of bhajans, Arati, the MA OM meditation, and closing prayers.
GreenFriends Living Consciously Project
Amma has been continuing to stress the importance of the environment and to that end Green Friends is of vital importance to our local environment and our global one, activities like tree planting, reviving local areas and cleaning up the environment have been some of the things we have been involved with this year. In June Amma was asking us to each plant our own vegetables as a way of making the planet more sustainable.
This is an easy thing to do and even if you don’t have a garden you can certainly plant edible things in pots. We encourage you to get involved in the green friends project. Details >

ARCHANA (Worship through the repetition of the names of God)
Amma has always given great importance to the chanting of the
Sri Lalita Sahasranama (the Thousand Names of Devi). It is one of the most sacred texts for the worship of the Absolute as the Mother of the Universe, rich in meaning.
Amma says that when the Lalita Sahasranama is chanted daily, with devotion, all obstacles are removed towards the path to liberation.
Chanting of the Lalita Sahasranama on a regular basis can lead to both material and spiritual benefits, such as:
-
prosperity to family and peace to the world
- removal of the effects of past mistakes
-
an awakening of the energy in every nerve of the body
-
provision of the basic necessities, including food
-
reduction in the intensity of suffering
“Each of the thousand names is as important as the mantras in the Upanishads. When we chant them we are unconsciously elevated to a more expansive nature. The Sahasranama is for elevating us from the culture of a housefly to divine. That is true satsang.” AMMA
Archana takes place on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. See the calendar for details
