August - October 2008

“My children, there is no need to see the spiritual and material sides of life as separate. That difference exists only in the attitude of the mind. We need to understand spirituality and live accordingly. Only then will life become blissful. Spirituality teaches us how to live a life of true happiness. Say that the material side of life is rice, and the spiritual side is sugar. Spirituality is the sugar that sweetens the rice pudding. An understanding of spirituality is what makes life sweet.” Amma: Lead Us To Light. p140.

Spend a Spiritual Weekend with Brahmachari Shantamrita
Amma is sending one of her senior Western disciples, Brahmachari Shantamrita Chaitanya, to tour Australia in August 2008. Brahmachari Shantamrita will spend some time in each state and will be conducting Pujas and Homas while touring. Brahmachari Shantamrita Chaitanya grew up in the USA, where he studied Japanese and Asian Civilizations.
He began living at Amritapuri (Amma's Ashram), India in 1993. In 1997 at the age of 29 he was initiated by Amma as a Brahmachari (formally becoming a monk and priest) and since then has been engaged in social, educational and spiritual activities throughout India, Japan, USA and Europe.
In India he has worked on projects such as the Amrita-Kuteeram Housing Construction scheme (supplying housing to people of low income) and the Gujarat Earthquake relief project. In Europe and the USA he has been involved in activities for the Youth as well as accompanying Amma on Her World Tours.
Since 2002 Brahmachari Shantamrita has lived in Japan running Amma's Ashram where he is also a member of the Board of Directors for Amma's Japanese NGO. He continues to travel around the world with Amma and on his own throughout South East Asia conducting pujas and homas and inspiring devotees with his heartfelt talks on topics such as "Spirituality in Daily Life", "The Meaning of Prayer", "The Significance of Meditation", and "Worship in the Form of Service" .
Brahmachari Shantamrita will be conducting a Homa in Sydney on the 9th of August. While attendance at the Homa is free you can register to have the Homa performed for you, or a loved one, directly. For this service there is a charge, the proceeds to go covering the cost of the puja/homa and to support Amma’s humanitarian charities.
Register your personal intention (sankalpa) for the Homa: Download registration form >
