GreenFriends - Living Consciously
“Today the air is becoming more and more polluted; the water as well.
Rivers are drying up. Forests are being destroyed. New diseases are spreading.
If this continues, a huge disaster is in store for all of Nature and Humanity.”
Amma

Green Friends Australia is venturing, with great vigor and joy, into some exciting new projects. Combining Green Friends coordinators from across the country and reflecting the “Green Friends Ethos” as established by Amma’s headquarters (Amritapuri) in India, we are launching a national “Green Friends - Living Consciously “ environmental awareness campaign. We will aim to raise awareness on the impact we have on the natural world and look at practical solutions in the form of workshops, guest speakers, excursions and other educational activities. Some of the focus areas will include; Developing Reverence for Nature, Growing your own Organic Fruit and Vegetables, Being a Green Consumer, protecting and reestablishing Natural Habitats, amongst others.
Green Friends educational activities and projects will provide enriching and practical ways we can apply Amma’s teachings of Love and Compassion to environmental issues. The earth, our mother, provides us with the very air we breathe, she nourishes our physical body and without her we could not exist in this form. We need not wait for the world to change for us. We can make changes in our own lives that will directly benefit the natural world and indeed all humanity. Now is the time to act. With every thought and action we are creating the future world we will be living in. “Green Friends - Living Consciously” aims to identify some of the main issues that we need to address in order to live in harmony with the natural world.
“Anyone-woman or man-who has the courage to overcome the limitations of the mind can attain a state of universal motherhood. The love of awakened motherhood is a love and compassion felt not only towards ones own children, but towards all people, animals and plants, rocks and rivers- a love extended to all nature, all beings. Indeed, to a woman in whom the state of true motherhood has awakened, all creatures are her children. This love, this motherhood, is Divine Love-and that is God” Amma (Tulasi Devi, p13, M.A Mission Trust)
The project is still in it formative stages, more information will be provided in the coming months, we will keep you posted. If you would like to be involved in the development of this project, have a relevant area of expertise to offer or simply would like to be involved in Green Friends please contact your local MA Centre coordinator or Darshana (on the address below) . We would love to hear from you

“It is high time to give serious thought to protecting Nature. The destruction of Nature is the same thing as the destruction of humanity. Trees, animals, birds, plants, forests, mountains, lakes and rivers – everything that exists in Nature – are in desperate need of our kindness, of the compassionate care and protection of man. If we protect them, they, in turn, will protect us.” - Amma, from “Man and Nature”

About GreenFriends
Amma has always looked upon animals as Her children and Nature itself as Her own Mother. Now, with Green Friends, Amma has given Her children an opportunity to serve Nature and cultivate an attitude of love and respect for Mother Earth.
Green Friends is an organisation established by M.A. Math for the preservation and protection of the environment. This programme instils love and respect for Mother Nature in people, teaching them that humankind is a part of Nature, not a separate entity. If we take care of plants and animals and the environment as a while, Nature, in turn, will take care of us.
Green Friends regularly engages in tree planting and the maintenance of plants. Its members also practice eco-meditation, a method or re-establishing the vitally important harmony between nature and humanity.
”Without Nature no creature, no human being, nothing would exist. Thus it is our responsibility to lovingly care for every living being.”
